Our goal is to provide enriching opportunities for youth to build leadership skills, deepen their understanding of our culture, and to serve the temple and the community.
Also we do many more self enriching fun activities like group field trips and socializing events!
This past month, The ISKCON Phoenix Youth Group has made some substantial strides in reaching out to the community. On March 28, we participated in the NAMI walk to help support the promotion of mental health services for children in need. We handed out bottles of water and walked the three miles during this event. We have been continuing our volunteer work at the local Sunrise Assisted Senior Living Center. Members of our group visit weekly and help administer activities and spend time with the seniors there. We have also continued our weekly reading sessions, in which we discuss slokas from the Bhagavad Gita. These activities give our members increased insight into our culture and religion. The goals of the ISKCON Phoenix Youth Group have remained the same: to serve the temple and the local community and to enrich our members with cultural awareness and the experience of community service. Through all of our activities, we enrich the lives of people in our group, raise money for the temple and for other worthy causes, and conduct service projects in which we put in our time and resources for the community.
Upcoming activities we are preparing for include a March of Dimes walk to help premature babies and a cooking camp for our members in summer. We encourage all interested middle or high school students to join our group. It’s a decision you won’t regret. Please contact Meera Doshi at meera1795@gmail.com for more information.
Meeting time: Every Sunday at 4pm here at the temple.
